UB's Flute Ensemble, directed by Cheryl Gobbetti-Hoffman

UB's Concert Flute Quartet is Plosion's primary performing ensemble
directed by Cheryl Gobbetti-Hoffman. Among
recent appearances have been performances for Discover UB, WBFO-FM Radio's "OPUS:
Classics Live", St. Paul's
Cathedral Friday Noon Recital Series, Classics on Elmwood, the Albright-Knox
Art Gallery, the Rochester Flute Association, Pantasmagoria 2004, UB's
Wellness Center, and Adelphia Cable TV's "Crossroads". Additionally,
members have participated in the 2003 Coleman Chamber Music Competitions
and June in Buffalo Festival concerts. PLOSION was featured in the
arts publication ARTVOICE in April 1999.

Registered students participate in weekly coaching sessions
relevant to performance of chamber music written for and/or including
flutes. In addition, students can rehearse and perform in chamber
ensembles of varied size and instrumentation; explore new & used
repertory for chamber ensembles involving flutes; work with departmental
collaborative pianists, faculty and graduate assistant coaches, and other
student instrumentalists; strengthen individual social skills in striving
to perform effectively within a group; ensure coaching time and credit
for extra-curricular playing activities; de-mystify the performance experience
through guided preparation; inform perspective regarding sensitive, responsible,
and constructive group function and interactions. Registered
students a reguaranteed participation in at least one public program
each semester, presented in either
Baird Recital or Lippes Concert Hall in Slee Hall.
